Why write a little book about life in a senior living community?
Author Helen Bowers says “I know often people are worried and scared to move from their home of many decades. I want to tell people that there is nothing to be afraid of. It is a wonderful life with so many benefits.” This is an opportunity too get a glimpse into what a great life awaits you.
This book is a great resource to anyone who is thinking of moving or has a family member who is considering making a move to a different but much easier life.
Below is an excerpt from the book.
“Honey, it’s time to look for a retirement apartment. Oh no, not yet. I’m not ready to move.” Does that sound familiar? There comes a time as our homes age and we get older and our body begins to get weaker, it is inevitable – it’s time to leave the home you have been in maybe for decades and move to a new place where everything is on one floor and there is no snow to shovel, no lawn to take care of, a heated garage and people to watch out for you.
Making a move like this can be stressful and difficult and one that is easy to put off. There are so many unknown things about what the place you are moving to will be like and what your life will be like. I want to share the story of my move and give you a glimpse of what it is like to live in a senior living community. I hope reading about my experience will make it easier for you to make your move.
